I did promise you a picture of the plaque I made for a client. This client's parents were celebrating the 20th anniversary of their sugar shack in Luskville, QC. My client thought a plaque in the shape of a maple leaf would commemorate the event nicely. I used some leftover quilted maple I had lying around. The figure is gorgeous and I had enough to closely match the figure so the seams between the pieces are not too apparent (I hope). The actual assembly and cutting were easy. The sanding however is another story. No matter how sharp the blades, marks will be left behind when cutting out such an intricate pattern. The sanding session was epic, but worthwhile. It was great to go to the sugar shack last weekend and see the plaque hung up on the wall while I stuffed myself silly on good, traditional fare. Yum!
