A daring new group of Ottawa artisans and collectors called the Ottawa Valley Crafters and Collectors (OVCC) have had the bold idea of holding a craft show during Winterlude. Duh! Why hadn't I thought of that? Be that as it may, the Winterlude show will be the OVCC's second show and I'm truly excited at the line-up of artisans. Check out their site at www.ovccshow.com.

Wow! Yet another show. This one in the Glebe at Mutchmor Public School at 185 Fifth Avenue. The show runs from 10 AM to 3 PM and admission is free!
Since the show at Sir Robert Borden was such a smashing success, I was really low on stock. Can't have low stock for a show in the Glebe, no siree! I spent all of my free time this week in the workshop making:
- seven cutting board - seven business card holders - six win bottle balancers - six trivets - three kazoos - two breadboards - ... and a partridge in a pear tree! :-) I was floored by the community response to the Capital Artisans Guild craft show at Sir Robert Borden this last weekend. It was like there had never been a craft show in the neighbourhood - which it seems may be true. So many items were sold that I have to spend all of my free time in the workshop to restock. We were also collecting food and funds for the Ottawa Food Bank subsidiary Morrison gardens. We collected $470 and 9 boxes of food. The students at Sir Rob were also running a canteen to raise funds for their trip to Ghana in Africa to help build a school. They raised close to $800 as well. All in all, a fantastic event. many thanks to the organizers.
It was a long time coming and the Guild has exploded out of Orleans. Our very first show in Nepean is occurring on November 24 and 25 at Sir Robert Borden High School, 131 Greenbank Road. The show is open from 9 AM to 4 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Admission and parking are free but we would appreciate a donation of food or cash for the Food Bank.
While at the TACA craft show, a photographer from the Nepean-Barrhaven News EMc captured this shot of yours truly. Nice truck! Thanks to photogrsapher Jennifer McIntosh for the great pick.
Very good show at the Trend Arlington Community Association. While the traffic was a little slow, I met some great people and some fantastic artisans that I hope to meet again. Thanks to Marianne Cox for organizing it, and for the mulled cider (yum!).
I will be at the Trend Arlington Community Association (TACA) craft show on November 17. The event is from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Trend Arlington Tennis Club, 50 Bellman Drive in Nepean.
Nearly 1,500 people came through the doors over both days to see crafts by 60+ artisans. It was a great show all-around and it was great to see some familiar faces that return year after year. You folks rock!
In my role as the President of this Guild, it is my great pleasure to be there for the 30th annual craft show at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Secondary School in Orleans. The show is November 3-4 from 10 AM to 4 PM both days. The school is located at 1515 Tenth Line Road. Parking and admission are free but we would appreciate a food or cash donation to the Food Bank.
