It's been far too long. The sawdust has not stopped flying, it;s just that there's a whole lot less of it. As I mentioned in my last post, one of my other fave things is to launch fireworks. Now that the season is (sorta) over, I'm back to working with wood, but not in the workshop. I'm building an extension to the deck. Yes, I do carpentry work as well. I didn't talk about it before because, well, it's kind of hard to sell a deck online or at a craft show.
I have another monster cutting board to make out of quilted maple and walnut, and I have to give another potential client a quote on a breakfast table. Yup, we're moving into furniture mode. I have also finally found the table top for the console table I've always wanted to build.

Above is the left-hand part of this table top, and to the left is the right hand side. It's a figured maple board that measures 50 inches long by 13 inches wide. The plan is to make a console table with maple legs and a really dark walnut support system for the table top that is hidden. What I want to do is to have the table top supports attached to the legs, but the legs don;t quite reach the table top. The effect (in my head at least) would be the look of a floating table top. I will try to upload a sketch to give you an idea. This table would be an item I would use to attract attention to my booth at craft shows. It's going to be expensive, the wood top cost $225.
